About Michael

A life shaped
by the next idea.

New York beginnings. Honolulu perspective. A lasting conversation with Japan. And a career spent finding the human story inside ambitious subjects.

Producer. Director. Writer. Connector.

I currently serve as Creative Director at CooperTV. My career spans television commercial production, news programming, investigative journalism, filmmaking, healthcare, international business and strategic development. The titles changed, but the essential work remained the same: understand the real story, communicate it clearly and bring the right people together to make something happen.

I began as a producer and director with EUE/Screen Gems, the commercial-production division of Columbia Pictures, working in both Manhattan and Hollywood. I collaborated with leading Madison Avenue advertising agencies including J. Walter Thompson, Doyle Dane Bernbach, Ogilvy and McCann Erickson. My clients included Alka-Seltzer, Avon, Burger King and Pepto-Bismol.

My experience also extends to news production. I produced news programming for ABC News and PBS, including investigative television at WABC-TV and consulting work for PBS Frontline. Those years established a respect for rigorous preparation, visual storytelling and the obligation to make complicated subjects understandable without making them simplistic.

My work increasingly connected the United States and Japan. I produced programming for TV Asahi, Tokyo Broadcasting System and NHK, and worked with agencies including Asahi, Dentsu and Hakuhodo. Those experiences built lasting relationships across Japanese media and business and taught me the practical value of cultural fluency, patient negotiation and listening closely.

In Hawai‘i, I served as Media Director for the Hawai‘i Medical Association and Creative Director at ThinkTech Hawai‘i, developing health, business and public-affairs programming. My international work also expanded beyond media to renewable-energy and satellite initiatives in China and to a multimillion-dollar resort-villa project involving Four Seasons Resorts and Sumitomo Corporation.

Today, Honolulu is home and the base for several overlapping pursuits. I am developing The Zeron Accord, documentary and health-media projects, and international ventures in biotechnology, finance, hospitality and communications. I also use artificial intelligence as a practical creative and strategic tool for research, writing, visual development, multilingual communication and business planning.
